1H2025 review: Breaking New Ground

Happy SG60!

a message from OUR ceo JOANNA
2025 YTD: Breaking New Ground

As we count down to Singapore’s 60th birthday celebration, I am reminded of the original drafting of the Singapore pledge by Rajaratnam - that
“we will seek happiness and progress by helping one another.”

We have seen the wisdom of our founding fathers in action at Arukah in our whirlwind first half of 2025.

I believe our milestones (in one case a global first!) - have only been possible because we are committed to honouring smallholder farmers with a 50% share of carbon credit revenue for their verifiable project contributions.

(Not to mention the great fun we have had along the way as a team, and with our
aligned builders, partners and collaborators!)

Thank you to our ecosystem and team for coming alongside our audacious goal: Scaling gigaton decarbonisation by lifting the incomes of 100 million smallholder farmers.
our milestones

Breaking New Ground Together in 2025 -

March: The Largest Biochar Plant in Southeast Asia - Proudly manufactured, operated and financed by SE Asians

Partnering with forward thinking local leaders and homegrown advanced manufacturers in Cambodia, who share our vision for large scale economic development through global market access and innovation, and care to include underfinanced farmers and labourers in our growth.

We are grateful for the catalytic support of the global community, our regional ecosystem and our investors.

Their provision of opportunities to share our vision and approach in both public and private platforms have already led to tangible new partnerships - more announcements coming shortly! It takes global friendships to build a global vision, and we are grateful for everyone's trust.

April: A Global First for Southeast Asia in Carbon Markets - Arukah was named a Top 5 CDR Developer Globally for Q1 by CDR.fyi, the first to break into this list from our region

In 2024, Asia only represented 1% of supply globally, but we hope that this will soon change -

We're grateful for buyers who value both project integrity and measurable local impact - and have trusted us with their first buys in our region, in some cases in Asia overall.

We are looking forward to making more announcements in 2H - watch this space!

May: A Global First in dMRV - Our household biogas digital MRV is the first and only solution approved globally by Gold Standard (and one of only 5 globally across all methodologies)

We are proud to have built this global milestone for this widely used Corsia-compliant methodology from Singapore, including first-in-market, direct to farmer monthly payments.

We thank our partners for their trust - from local farmers to global financiers and buyers alike!

(Also hear from the CEO of MooPay, the fintech division of StellApps, one of our core collaboration partners on developing product-market fit for farmers.)

We are now building first time integrations into the digital infrastructures of partner distribution platforms - do reach out to learn more.

Growing with a Flourishing Ecosystem

AI meets Last Mile Digital MRV

We have incorporated generative AI in our farmer chatbot for local language voice communications, and in the next phase, we’re starting to test AI in two areas:

Predictive analytics and anomaly detection in our biogas dMRV

Computer vision and spatial AI for our biochar plant

We are excited to be building out of the enabling ecosystem in Singapore.

We had the opportunity to share some early learnings at an AI x Impact panel at FeiFest along with a fellow Stanford alum founder and Stanford professor James Landay - and at IMDA’s annual Asia Tech Summit.

Paying it Forward

We have benefitted greatly from the region’s ecosystem, and are excited to be able to pay it forward to the next generation of climate innovators.

We contributed as a judge for the inaugural Hitachi Green Finance Hackathon, as part of Elevandi Japan’s fintech festival, and also shared climate scale up insights with female founders at a panel for the She Loves Tech x UN Women climate accelerator

What's next?

3 Market Observations

Buyers in the voluntary carbon market are becoming very sophisticated.
Record retirements are paired with strengthening standards and a flight to quality that we are seeing in our pricing and diligence conversations with global buyers and financiers, and our dMRV enabled projects.
It is a very dynamic time to be building from Asia.
Japan and Singapore are #1 and #2 globally on bilateral Article 6 agreements, and we are quickly growing with new ecosystems and new industries entering CDR on a voluntary basis.

A shout out to the amazing ecosystem builders in our region, including the Elevandi Insights Forum’s inaugural Green Circles Summit, Emerald Climate and SEMICON SEA, Puro.Earth and Ecosperity, Temasek Trust’s Impact Investing Roundtables, the Financial Times Moral Money Asia summit, GIIN’s Asia Impact Forum - the first of many more to come.
It feels like a kairos moment for new blueprints on catalytic financing.
This month, JP Morgan announced a blueprint $210 million project financing that is a milestone for standardising finance for carbon markets.

We’re excited to witness - and be part of - what is coming -

Building from one of the deepest pools of family offices in the world, with forward thinking catalytic policies in Singapore, and

Enabled by digitalisation of agrifood supply chains and last-mile payments across SE Asia.

ps - And a shout out to our amazing interns - Singapore's post-2000s generation. From what we've seen of their energy across innovation and people-first problem solving, I have conviction that Singapore's next generation is well on its way to our founding generation’s audacious dream for our nation: To unlock happiness and progress by helping one another.
